Carried in the King’s procession, were the ‘setthasak’, or, ‘8 auspicious elements’. One of them being the parasols: Five-tier for normal citizens, seven-tier for nobelmen. Nine tiered parasols were carried for the King and twelve tiered carried for the monk. All over the region these parasols adorn the temple tops. This became my inspiration for my ‘Umbrella’ earring.
